In the begining, there is so much to do:
- Application - check!
- Adoption Awareness meeting - check!
- Fingerprinting - check!
- Homestudy - check!
- Required reading - check!
- Prepare our profile using 1,000 words or less* - check!
- Celebrate approval and begin networking - check!
- Wait - wait some more - keep on waiting - guess what?! - oh wait.....
You get the picture. The first 3 months of the process fly by. There are so many details to take care of, you don't really have time to stop and think about the journey. But once the wait begins, that's it... you wait. And live. And pray.
Here we are... just over 2 months into our 'wait'. And I can honestly say it hasn't been too bad (yet!). Are we anxiously awaiting that phone call that could change our lives? Of course! But we don't spend our days moping around feeling sorry for ourselves. We LIVE. At this point, we don't really have any other choice! We've done almost all we can do to move this process along. I mean, we will still keep spreading the word, because we never know who might connect us to our future child's birthmother... it could even be someone you know! But we aren't putting our lives on hold until we become parents. Right now, it's in God's hands, and we trust that he will make that happen when the time is right. In the meantime, we will continue to PRAY. It brings us comfort. We know the strength that prayer can provide. It's a powerful thing, and it will carry us through this journey. We don't know if we're halfway there or not, but we'll make it, I swear :)
Livin' on a prayer....
*Check back soon for my next post, when I'll explain how DIFFICULT it is to describe your life in 1,000 words or less.
