On Days Like This…

I really look forward to being a mom.  Warm breakfast in the morning, snuggles on the couch, and sunshine pouring through the windows.  The promise of winter weather that is finally warm enough to enjoy.  Riley is already antsy because I said the word W-A-L-K.  I imagine our children being just as excited.  Whether or not they are able to walk on their own, they’ll be out in the woods hiking along with us.  The cute little back-pack carrier is already fitted and ready to go!  When they are old enough, Daddy will have them out on the ice, catching fish and skating around the holes.  We’ll all come home to hot chocolate, a fire in the fireplace, and game-night or a movie with popcorn and M&Ms.  After they drift off to sleep on the couch, we’ll carry them upstairs where they will sleep in their own beds all through the night J

Ok, so maybe I’m dreaming, but let me have this moment!!!!  I’m sure you Mothers out there are laughing at my idealistic view of our future.  I’m not naive.  I realize parenting involves more than fun, giggles, and perfect Saturday afternoons.  But after years’ of waiting for that day to come, I think I’m entitled to a daydream or two.  The funny thing about dreams?  They can, and do come true.  Sometimes it requires a little work, but you can make anything happen if you just set your mind to it.  I like to think that we’ve taken that first step towards fulfilling our dreams by deciding to adopt.  It was a big decision, but an easy one to make.  Although the waiting may involve some difficult steps, we’re so excited to see where this ‘walk’ will lead us….

  1. I dream of these days, as well . . . one day our children will be playing outside together -- giggling and building a snowman with their little rosey cheeks. We will be baking cookies and listening to the "Mikes" talk about the football game. Our dreams really will come true . . . . our time will come.
